How do skin peels work?

Hi, I'm Jodie Baker, the owner and founder of Homepeel. I've been running Homepeel for 17 years. I'm 50, and I do all my videos without any makeup or any filtres. And today I'm here to tell you how a skin peel works and why they're fantastic. So let's get started. Your skin has a natural 28 day cycle. So what that means is that day one, there's a little skin cell. So it's round and brand new, like a little baby, and it's down in the dermis. And over a 28 day period, it's going to start to slowly raise to the top of your skin. And as it's doing that, it's flattening out, flattening out, flattening out till it's really, really flat. And then other ones are doing the same thing. And then basically, what's happening is, by the time it gets to the top at day 28, there's going to be a tightly compacted mask of flat, dead skin cells sitting on the top of your face like a mask. And this is called the Stratum corneum. Skin peels break the bonds that keep those skin cells bonded together so they release, and then you shed, and then you lose that stratum corneum, revealing your gorgeous skin underneath. This is what a skin peel is. And there's many different levels. There are some that have no downtime that just do it in the moment. So you're just getting a very light peel.

And then you have other ones that are like five day peels, and it removes the whole stratum corneum. And then you have five days of shedding. And Homepeel actually has one just like that called the Green Herb Skin Peel. I'll show it to you here. There's the lotion. And here's our herbs. You mix them together, you do it three to four times per year only. And these are the herbs actually really quite herby. It's very fun. It's a bit messy. And for five days, you lose your skin. It's not suitable for skin that suffers from hyperpigmentation or melasma. If you're interested, please email us at info@homepeel.com au. And if you have any further questions about peels or any other home salon treatments, please go to the Homepeel website, because that's what we specialise in. We also specialise in cosmeceutical grade natural skincare. So basically what that means is our ingredients are cosmeceutical grade but are natural. So not even alcohols, because these things age your skin. And after all, skincare is meant to not age your skin. It's meant to make you more youthful and make you more glowy. So that's it from me. Have a great day. Bye.
